SUPRAcare

Basic insurance with family doctor

SUPRAcare insurance model is a cost-effective alternative to the standard insurance. You are free to choose your general practitioner who you will consult first in all medical matters.

PRINCIPLES
  • When signing up to the insurance, I am free to choose my general practitioner.
  • I consult this doctor first in all medical matters (except in an emergency or in cases specified in the terms and conditions of insurance).
  • This doctor will provide medical care or refer me to the relevant specialist or medical facilities.
COMMENTS
  • SUPRAcare is available in the following cantons: Aargau, Basel (BS and BL), Bern, Geneva, Graubünden, Jura, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Ticino and Vaud.
  • The SUPRAcare model is based on the third-party guarantor system for pharmacy costs: I pay my pharmacy bill and then ask my insurer for a refund.

Your most frequently asked questions

a) Pharmacy costs: your pharmacy costs are covered as before. This means that you pay your invoices directly to the pharmacy and then you are reimbursed by your insurer, after deduction of the co-insurance amounts (“third-party guarantor” system).
b) Costs of other healthcare providers (doctors, laboratories, physiotherapists, etc.): these costs are normally also refunded according to the “third-party guarantor” system. However, if the healthcare provider has entered into a “third-party payer” agreement with Groupe Mutuel, the insurer settles the healthcare provider's invoice and invoices the insured person for his share of the costs.

You may change your general practitioner once a year.
Just send us the name of your new doctor by mail or email (clients@groupemutuel.ch). The general practitioner must appear on the list of doctors approved by your network (exception: in the PrimaCare model, there is no list of doctors).

Yes, it covers home care services when administered by nurses or by an approved home care organization. However, you must have a medical prescription for these services.

Mainly dental accidents not covered by accident insurance and certain serious illnesses of the masticatory system as defined in Articles 17 to 19(a) of the Ordinance on Healthcare Insurance Benefits (OPAS/KLV). Terms of coverage are very restrictive.
