Changes to the CGA LAMal/KVG as of 1 April 2023

All insured persons (existing or future) who have basic health insurance with a Groupe Mutuel insurer or an insurer administered by Groupe Mutuel, i.e:

  • Mutuel Assurance Maladie SA
  • Philos Assurance Maladie SA
  • Avenir Assurance Maladie SA
  • Easy Sana Assurance Maladie SA
  • SUPRA-1846 SA
  • AMB Assurances SA
  • Caisse-maladie de la vallée d'Entremont société coopérative

No action is required on your part. You will automatically benefit from these new general terms and conditions of insurance (CGA LAMal/KVG) as of 1 April 2023.

The general terms and conditions (CGA LAMal/KVG) are the document that regulates the administrative aspects of the relationship between the insurer and the insured person (payments, contact details, communications). The CGA LAMal/KVG needed to be updated in order to adapt them to the usual practices of the industry, which have evolved in recent years.

The way your basic health insurance works, as well as the benefits to which insured persons are entitled, will not change:

  • The way your insurance model works will not change.
  • Your premium will not change.
  • The medical benefits covered by your insurance remain the same. The benefits of basic health insurance are defined by the Law on Health Insurance (LAMal/KVG) and are therefore identical, regardless of the insurance company and the basic health insurance model chosen.
  • If your canton of residence pays part of your health insurance premium, the subsidies to which you are entitled will not be affected by the amendment.
  • Your deductible amount remains the same.
  • The data exchanged with our partners if you have an alternative insurance model remains the same, in compliance with the Law on Data Protection (LPD/DSG).
  • If you had a family doctor model, your family doctor remains the same.
  • Your supplemental insurance policies are not affected by this amendment, which only concerns basic health insurance.

The changes to the LAMal/KVG terms and conditions of insurance (CGA) apply mainly to the following points:

  • Art. 2, para. 1: the insured person may apply for insurance in writing or by any other means made available by the insurer, with the exception of social networks;
  • Art. 3, paras. 4-5: the insurer may charge the insured person for the post office fees incurred in the case of payment at a post office counter or charge the insured person a fee in case of payment by instalments (for more details, please go to the FAQ section and click on the “Pay my bills” tab);
  • Art. 3, para. 6: possibility for the insured person to benefit from a discount if he pays his premiums semi-annually or annually (currently only offered to persons insured with SUPRA-1846 SA);
  • Art. 4, para. 1: possibility for the insured person to communicate changes to his personal data in writing or by any other means made available by the insurer, with the exception of social networks;
  • Art. 6 (a): the insured person may submit invoices via the online Customer Area (desktop or mobile application);
  • Art. 7, paras. 1-5: the insured person may terminate insurance or make changes to his contract in writing or by any other means made available by the insurer, with the exception of social networks;
  • Art. 7, para. 5: possibility for the insurer to legitimately send documents to the insured person via the Customer Area if the insured person has agreed to this method of communication.
No, the amendment to the general terms and conditions of insurance (CGA LAMal/KVG) does not give policyholders the right to terminate their basic health insurance during the year.
